On the 20th November 2020 the DEAPS _DEVELOPING EDUCATORS’ ARTISTIC PRACTICE IN SCHOOLS kicked-off, funded from the Erasmus+ programme, under the KA2 – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices priority.

Lead Partner from Leeds Beckett University had the supervision of the first meeting and Tom Dobson was our moderator. In this first meeting after the introductions, the agenda for the following months was unfolded, with administrative and output obligations of partners.

Following there was a discussion to unpack the role of the Art Educator and his/her role in the current national education systems.

Partner agreed also to have a two-hour meeting every month apart from the official scheduled Transnational Meetings to keep in touch and have the chance to present their work.

A few words about the project

The DEAPS project will facilitate creative learning opportunities for children (5 to 16 years) in schools by transferring the knowledge of Artist Educators (writers, actors, dancers,

musicians, visual artists) to a school context. DEAPS aims to ensure the positive mental health of young people and reduce ESL(early school leaving) by providing spaces for engagement with the creative arts in schools. This will be achieved by our diverse partnership working alongside Artist Educators with a range of artistic practices to transfer their knowledge to teachers and parents of children between 5 and 16 years of age.
