Description

The EcoDigital project is an Erasmus+ KA2 school education project that raises awareness on the impact of digitalisation and develops educational resources and training materials that aim at enhancing students’ and teachers’ green and digital skills. Digital transformation has brought many benefits that have a positive impact on fighting climate change and reducing CO₂ emissions. However, the production, use and data transfer of digital devices causes more CO₂ emissions than one would expect. The project seeks to raise awareness on the impact of digitalization on the environment and motivate students, teachers, and relevant stakeholders to adopt environmentally friendly habits.

Objectives

The objectives of the EcoDigital project are:
1) to raise awareness among teachers, students, and relevant stakeholders on the environmental impact of digitalisation. The project will identify the actual gaps and needs regarding digital waste and raise awareness on the problem.
2) to design training and educational tools on climate change-related issues that are less widespread, such as sustainable digitalisation, aiming to reduce carbon footprint emissions. In the framework of the project, teachers will participate in a capacity building programme that will target their digital skills and knowledge on the impact of digitalization, CO2 emissions and sustainability.
3) to enhance students’ digital skills. The project will develop educational resources on the use of the cloud and digital waste, as well as a variety of activities aimed at familiarizing students with the impact of digitalisation on the environment.
4) to assess the potential of sustainable digitalisation and reshape relevant policy agendas to integrate the benefits of the proper use of relevant digital tools.
